After the law has been passed by the government of India-suspension of real-money gaming operations by Zupee and other major platforms like Dream11 and MPL has stopped their cash related games.
The company Zupee, founded in 2018 by Dilsher Singh Malhi and Siddhant Saurabh, had raised $122 million in funding from investors like WestCap and AJ Capital Partners.After the new law which aims to address concerns related to financial risks, addiction, and illegal activities like money laundering associated with real-money gaming.
Parliament’s approval of Online Gaming Bill, 2025
The bill, cleared by both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha this week, seeks to ban all forms of online money games, defined as games where users deposit money.
The main aim is to reduce the online gambling due to which people are loosing money in massive amounts.At the same time, the bill aims to promote eSports and online social gaming.
