
The renowned rapper was honored LA Metro. LA Metro is offering 12,000 limited-edition Nipsey Hussle TAP cards beginning at 10 a.m.Grammy Award-winning rapper and community activist Nipsey Hussle, born Ermias Joseph Asghedom celebrated his 40th birthday on Friday, Aug. 15, 2025.

Metro officials said,”The TAP cards are part of the Metro x Culture series celebrating Angelenos who’ve shaped LA culture – leaders, artists, visionaries – especially those whose journeys began on Metro buses and trains”(sic)(source-foxla)
And to pay respect to him-Metro temporarily renamed the Hyde Park Station near Crenshaw Boulevard and Slauson Avenue the “Nipsey Hussle Station” through the end of the month.
Metro is now gearing up to release 12,000 of these limited editions TAP cards starting Friday, August 15.Riders will be able to get the new cards at select Metro station ticket vending machines, including Hyde Park, Crenshaw, Slauson, Compton, Hollywood/Vine, and Expo/Crenshaw.
Nipsey Hussle Death
Nipsey Hussle, whose real name is Ermias Asghedom, was a Grammy-award-winning rapper from South Los Angeles. The rapper was shot down,outside of his clothing store, Marathon Clothing, in 2019 near the Hyde Park Station.
Hussle was shot shortly after 3 p.m. on March 31, 2019. He was then transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:55 p.m.
He was shot at least 10 times, though L.A. County Medical Examiner Lawrence Nguyen noted during the trial that Hussle had sustained 11 gunshot wounds, per ABC7.
