Akshay Kumar Telugu debut
The actor made his debut in the south film with kannappa film, in the role of lord shiva. The film stars Vishnu Manchu in the lead role, with special appearances by Mohanlal and Prabhas.
Kannappa was released in the theaters on 27th june,2025. Kumar’s participation in South Indian productions reflects the increasing integration of India’s regional film industries.
This strategic move aligns with Kumar’s pattern of embracing new challenges and expanding his audience base across different regions and demographics.
Kumar has already seen in the avatar of lord shiva in “OMG: Oh My God!”. Where he played the messenger of God.Â
Kannappa is now streaming on OTT -from 5th September 2025 on amazon prime. Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa is a devotional drama that follows an atheist Thinnadu, a tribal leader.
Produced by Mohan Babu, the movie features music by Stephen Devassy. How it will perform on OTT and entertain home audiences remains to be seen.
