Kannada Actress Ranya Rao has been found carrying 14.2 kg of foreign-origin gold bars worth Rs 12.56 crore.She was arrested on March 3 after she flew into Bengaluru from Dubai.
According to the sources,there are 3 suspects which also includes the actress herself.Last year the actress was sentenced to one year of preventive detention under the Conservation of Foreign Exchange and Prevention of Smuggling Activities Act (COFEPOSA) in connection with a gold smuggling case.
Earlier May 20,Rao was granted bail by a court in bengaluru along with Tarun raja after the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) failed to file a chargesheet within the legally mandated time frame.
The bail was granted on a Rs. 2 lakh bond and surety conditions,Ranya Rao and Tarun Raju remained in custody due to the preventive detention order under COFEPOSA.
