Dhanush stepped on stage with his young son Linga at the Idli Kadai audio launch in Chennai on 14 September 2025 to deliver a performance and a message that resonates beyond cinema.
The actor-director, along with composer GV Prakash, performed “Enjami Thandhaane”, and toward the end of the performance, Dhanush could not resist inviting his son to dance.
At the event, Dhanush revealed that when he was a child, his family couldn’t always afford idlis, a staple breakfast in many South Indian households.
To earn money, he and his siblings would collect flowers from their neighborhood at dawn and sell them for just a couple of rupees.
With that money, they’d buy just four or five idlis, savouring each mouthful with joy. That memory, Dhanush says, helped sow the seeds of Idli Kadai’s narrative.

Idli Kadai marks Dhanush’s fourth film as a director. The ensemble cast features well-known artists including Nithya Menen, Sathyaraj, Arun Vijay, Samuthirakani, Rajiran, Shalini Pandey, and Parthiepan.
